About This Course
The International Foundation Year (Science, Computing, Engineering and Mathematics) is the first stage of a Bachelor's degree at Newcastle University for international students who have completed Year 11 or 12 at high school in their own country1.
During this course, you will study a combination of academic modules, English language and study skills. You will study in small classes alongside other international students, with additional support to help you adjust to student life in the UK.
On successful completion of this programme, you can progress to the first year of selected Bachelor's degrees in Science, Computing, Engineering And Mathematics, including BSc Computer Science (Software Engineering).
Progression is guaranteed for students who achieve the module scores required for their chosen progression degree.
Admission Requirements
Academic

Completion of high school with excellent grades (equivalent to IGCSE AB average) or AS Level. For Architecture, a portfolio of work is also required.

UKVI IELTS 5.5 (4.5 all skills) or equivalent UKVI English test. Some progression degrees require higher scores.

Minimum age 16 years and 9 months (for September start) or 17 years for other start dates.
