About This Course

The University Foundation (Humanities & Social Sciences) is the first stage of a Bachelor's degree at The University Of Central Lancashire for international students who have completed Year 11 or 12 at high school in their own country1.

During this course, you will study a combination of academic modules, English language and study skills. You will study in small classes alongside other international students, with additional support to help you adjust to student life in the UK. On successful completion of this programme, you can progress to the first year of selected Bachelor's degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences, including BA Criminology & Sociology. Progression is guaranteed for students who achieve the module scores required for their chosen progression degree.

Admission Requirements

Academic Completion of high school with good grades, equivalent to 5 IGCSE grades A* - C in relevant subjects (excluding native language).
English * For most programs, a minimum English level of UKVI IELTS 4.5 (4.0+ in all skills) is required (or equivalent UKVI English test).

Some programs have higher English requirements (IELTS 5.5 - 7.0), including Nursing, Medical Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy Dental Therapy and Clinical Dental Technology. Ask your advisor for further details if you are interested in these programs.
Minimum Age Minimum age 17 years (at start of course).

*Students who do not meet the English requirements can study an extended study plan with additional English tuition. The following options are available: English (1 Semester) + Foundation Year (2 Semesters) Starting Sep: From UKVI IELTS 4.0 (4.0 all skills).
