Can I Get Into University With AS Levels Only?
Yes you can!
Most UK universities require 3 full A Levels for general admission to their degree programmes.
However, International Students can get first year admission to selected degrees with only
2-3 AS Levels at some universities, including some Russell Group members. Find out how!
How Does It Work?
Students with 2-3 AS Levels study a first year programme called an International Year One, with
enhanced academic support and English language for those who need it. In most cases, you will study
the same classes as other university students, but you may study some subjects in smaller groups of
international students. In the second and third years, you study exactly the same programme as
other students.
What AS Level Grades Will I Need
Grade requirements depend on university, but start at D/E grades in 2 subjects related to the major
you want to study. Mid to high ranking universities typically ask for more subjects and higher grades,
for example 3 C grades in relevant subjects.
Which Universities Offer International Year One Programmes?
Currently, about 40+ UK universities offer an International Year One programme.
That list has grown rapidly in the last few years, as more universities have introduced the programme,
including some Russell Group universities like Cardiff, Exeter, Leeds, Newcastle and Queen's Belfast.
Which Subjects Can I Study?
The International Year One is available for selected degree programmes in subjects such as Business,
Management, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Law, Psychology, Life Sciences and more! You can
search for a subject using the search engine at the top of this page.
How Do I Apply?
You can apply for International Year One programmes online on our website.
Most courses start September and January and we can usually get a decision on your application within
a few days.
