Bachelor's Degrees

Undergraduate Degree Programs In The USA

A US Bachelor's degree is an undergraduate qualification that takes approximately 4 years1 to complete. In the first two years, you will study a broad curriculum of subjects, before specialising in a specific area (i.e. major) in the final two years. It is also common for students to study a major and minor subject, which need not be closely related. That gives you the opportunity to demonstrate a broad range of complementary skills on your academic transcript (e.g. Business and Spanish).

International Pathways

For most universities, international students have to meet the same academic entry requirements as US students and demonstrate a high proficiency in English. SAT (or ACT) scores are also widely required for undergraduate entry.

Most of the universities on our website offer international pathways, with flexible entry requirements and dedicated support for overseas students. That means international students who do not meet the academic or English requirements for direct entry can still enrol on an undergraduate program. Pathway students study the same curriculum as direct entry students and complete their degree in the same amount of time. However, they benefit from additional support during the first few semesters.

The US operates a credit transfer system, which makes it easy for students to transfer credits from one university to another. In fact, it is quite common for international students to switch universities after two years to complete their major, for example to trade up to a higher ranking university or relocate to a different part of the USA.

Post Study Work

On successful completion of a Bachelor's degree, you can remain in the USA and work for up to 12 months, or 36 months if you studied a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) subject.
