Study in Bath
The spa town of Bath is one of the most beautiful cities in England and was chosen to be a UNESCO
World Heritage Site in 1987.
The famous Roman Baths, after which the city is named, are the best preserved in Europe. They were fed by the
hot springs from the local Mendip Hills. The ruins of the Roman Baths form an extensive collection of hot and cold
plunges and sacred pools, which are of interest to anyone who wants to see for how the Romans lived.
In 2006, the Thermae Bath Spa opened, enabling people to enjoy the pleasures of these unique thermal waters for themselves.
Architecturally, Bath is renowned for its Georgian stone crescents and at the heart of the city is Bath Abbey, one of
the finest medieval churches in Britain. Situated on the River Avon, the city offers fine opportunities for walking,
cycling and cruising.
The surrounding countryside is very pretty and places like the Chew Valley are ideal for walking, nature spotting, sailing
and water sports. Bath prides itself on its large number of musical and artistic festivals and events that take place
throughout the year in the city and in neighbouring towns.
