The International Foundation Year (Business, Law & Social Studies) is a rigorous programme of academic subjects & study skills, plus English language training for those who need it. Classes are taught on campus at Liverpool John Moores University using university style teaching methods, enabling overseas students to adapt quickly to academic life in a British university.
All courses contain core modules to develop English communication and study skills. In addition, depending on your chosen degree subject, you will study a selection of the following academic modules:
- Maths for Business
A basic knowledge of mathematics; An understanding of the fundamental concepts of business maths; a foundation in mathematical applications for finance and accountancy;
- Business and Law
An introduction to the application of law to business; understanding of operational and strategic methodologies; basic legal principles and practice related to the business world;
The principles of Economics; economic concepts and theories;
- Project study
A supervised, self-study project on the topic you will study at degree level;
The foundation course starts in September or January. On successful completion, you will progress to your chosen degree course at Liverpool John Moores University, starting the following September.
Students who do not meet the minimum English level for entry to the standard foundation year can study an extended foundation instead. The extended foundation includes one extra term of English and has lower English entry requirements.
On successful completion of this course, you are guaranteed progression to one of the programmes at Liverpool John Moores University listed below. The minimum score required for progression is: 50% in academic modules and 60% in English
